Imbuing clay with loving intentions towards loved ones
Kneading it like masa
Los universos que creamos
Numinous spaces
The shadows we confront
Dirt on our face and under our nails
Her hands shredded from the strawberry fields
Fears of vulnerability, growth, rejection, and ourselves
The forgetting of ourselves and important knowledge
Rotten shame we hold onto
Peeling the skin that is too small for your new form
Murmurs of the primordial earth
Consuming the ugliest parts of yourself and feeling the power
Braiding traditions and love into her hair
Lighting ancestors’ favorite novenas
The possibilities of my eggs and their eggs and their eggs and their eggs
Freír un huevo a la perfección
Stars that will shine after you
Universe Hands, cosmic eggs, shadows of serpents, and ancestors’ lights guide my
practice to remind us of ourselves and to accept the shadows within.

I draw upon my personal experiences, cultural identities, and lore to create illustrations, sculpture, and installation to tell stories about the journey towards generational healing and acceptance of the self. Our society’s systems of oppression instill shame, self-doubt, and trauma, which is amplified in marginalized communities. Using archetypes, folklore, ancestral knowledge, folk art practices, tissue paper ruffles, and ritual, I create narratives of the battle towards love and acceptance of our shadows.
